Cards News and Notes: Waino, depth, and trivia

Yesterday's VEB

Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports

First up yesterday Craig had some good news to share in Adam Wainwright taking a step forward in his latest start. Hopefully this is a sustained step, as a right Adam Wainwright would make a big difference the rest of the year.

Next up, I took a look at the Cardinals' currently thin rotation depth. The Cards have yet to suffer an injury to the Club's five Opening Day starters, but Marco Gonzales has already been lost for the year, Tim Cooney is still on the DL, Luke Weaver has yet to pitch for the Double-A team, and Alex Reyes is still suspended.

Yesterday was Tuesday Trivia for Lil Scooter's Hunt and Peck. Try that and check out all the links she put together for all your Cardinal and Baseball news.

Cards got shut-out yesterday, spoiling a strong start from Michael Wacha. Check out the game thread for VEB's take as they happened, and check out StlCardsFan4's recap thread for a full post-game breakdown.

Mike Leake takes the mound today. He's had a rough start to the year with 5.83/4.68/4.26 ERA/FIP/xFIP. He'll face off against Adam Morgan, who in one start this year went five innings, striking out seven and walking one. The projections have him at much worse going forward though, with a Zips and Steamer averaged projection of a 5.12 FIP. Go Birds!
