Bruce Caldwell homered again, and Jake Woodford had his best start of the season. The system went 2-2.
Triple-A: Salt Lake 7 - Memphis 5
- Charlie Tilson (LF): 0-5
- Greg Garcia (SS): 2-5, R, 3B
- Tommy Pham (CF): 1-4, R, BB, K
- David Washington (1B): 1-4, RBI, 2B, BB,K
- Patrick Wisdom (3B): 2-4, 2 2B, 2 RBI
- Jeremy Hefner (SP): 6 IP, 11 H, 6 R, 2 BB, 5 K
- Corey Littrell (RP): 1 IP, 3 K
- Sam Tuivailala (RP): 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 2 K
Not a whole lot of highlights for Memphis...Pat Wisdom's 2 doubles give him 10 for the season. His 102 wRC+ is second highest among qualifiers on the team...David Washington has 9 XBH hits in his 68 AAA PA...The Cardinals sent cash considerations to the Royals for OF Jose Martinez, who will presumably join the Redbirds roster.
Double A: Midland 3 - Springfield 2
- Harrison Bader (CF): 0-5, K, CS
-
Breyvic Valera (RF/2B): 1-5, R
- Bruce Caldwell (2B): 2-3, R, HR, RBI, BB
- Paul Dejong (3B): 2-5, K, SB
- Carson Kelly (C): 0-4, RBI
- Andrew Morales (SP): 7 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 R, 0 BB, 8 K
No word on why Caldwell left the game after his 3rd PA...This was a nice bounceback start for Morales who allowed 11 hits in 5.2 IP his last time out.
A Advanced: Palm Beach 3 - Fort Myers 1
- Casey Turgeon (LF): 0-4, BB, 2 K
- Blake Drake (CF): 1-4, BB, K
- Oscar Mercado (SS): 1-4, R, 2 K, E, SB
- Michael Pritchard (RF): 1-4, RBI, K
- Matt Pearce (SP): 5 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 2 K
- Rowan Wick (RP): 1 IP, 1 H, 2 K, S
Michael Pritchard returned to the Palm Beach lineup last night and went 1-4. Among Florida State League players with at least 80 PA Pritchard has the highest BB% and lowest K%. The undrafted Pritchard is also 10th in the FSL with a 151 wRC+. While this is almost certainly a quirk of SSS, it would be fun if the 5-11 LF became a Mike O'Neill-esque oddity...Big Rowan Wick is 2-2 save opportunities since taking over the 9th inning. The 2 Ks last night pushed the Canadian strongman's K rate to 37% for the season.
Class A: Peoria 4 - Kane County 0
- Magneuris Sierra (CF): 2-5, 2B, RBI, K
- Jhonny Peralta (DH): 2-3, R
- Edmundo Sosa (SS): 0-3, BB, K
- Eliezer Alvarez (DH): 1-3, BB
- Jake Woodford (SP): 8 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K
Jake Woodford had the best start of his professional career. He threw 8 innings for the first time as a professional and avoided issuing a walk in a game for the first time this year...According to an in-game report from Jimmy "The Cat" Hayes, Jhonny Peralta will move on to Springfield to join them for their next home series.
