The Cardinals got their first exhibition out of the way yesterday, playing against Florida Atlantic University. Cardinals prospect Austin Gomber got to pitch against his alma mater and struck out three in two hitless innings. Seung Hwan Oh got his first action of spring in a 1-2-3 third that included a strikeout. Jacob Wilson and Patrick Wisdom hit homers in a 12-run eighth inning that saw the Cardinals rally to take a 13-6 win in the first game of the season. Nineteen year old outfield prospect Magneuris Sierra got in the game and hit an RBI double.
Getting the first game out of the way was fun, and the game included mostly minor leaguers. Today, we will see a bit more action from players expected to make major contributions in St. Louis this season.
