Cardinals news and notes: Peralta, Freese, and bat flips

Yesterday at VEB

Scott Rovak-USA TODAY Sports

Here's what you may have missed yesterday at VEB:

Bryce Denton

Joe Schwarz did a Q&A with Cardinals third base prospect Bryce Denton who was drafted in the second round of the most recent draft.  I've mentioned before how unnerving it was when Rick Ankiel joined the Cardinals and became the first player on their MLB roster to be younger than me but this is something else entirely.

Oh man.

Jhonny Peralta Projections

Here's your chance, post-injury, to chime in on how Jhonny Peralta will do in 2016.

David Freese

David Freese finally signed with a team last week and it was with our division rival Pittsburgh Pirates.  I'm probably in the minority on here but I'm happy he's with the Pirates where we can see him more often rather than with a team on the west coast.  And I'm going to follow Lil Scooter's lead and use this as an excuse to call attention to even more David Freese highlights.

Minor League Game Thread

The Cardinals played the Twins today and lost 5-3 but it sounds like Mike Leake (4 IP, 6 Ks, allowed just one hit) pitched well.

Cultural Wars

Adam Wainwright is not a huge fan of bat flips and that's totally fine.  I'm not a fan of the baseball cultural wars and I support whichever side will lead to less think pieces on this issue.  So without further ado, here's my think piece on the baseball culture wars.

A Good Tweet

Is that the best tweet ever from the @cardinals account?  It's certainly in the running.  Have a great Tuesday, everyone.
