Cardinals v Mets Game Thread: 3/10/2016

Jaime Garcia is on the mound, Aledmys Diaz is back at shortstop and the game is on MLB.tv.

Butch Dill-USA TODAY Sports

The Cardinals are now playing their eighth official game of Spring Training. Injuries have played a major role thus far with no major battles expected prior to the team reporting in Jupiter. How quickly Yadier Molina would recover from his injuries is a big question, and although he cannot bat, he passed a small test in catching yesterday. The major news out of camp has been Jhonny Peralta's injury, which will keep him out for several months, creating a battle for the starting shortstop job.

Jedd Gyorko and Aledmys Diaz have alternated starts since Peralta went down. Gyorko got the start yesterday, and today it is Diaz's turn. This will also be Jaime Garcia's second start of spring as he readies himself for the season. The Mets local television network is airing the game, but Fox Sports Midwest is not, which means you can see the game on MLB.tv. The radio broadcast, featuring friend-of-the-blog Chris Hrabe and Kyle McClellan can be found on Cardinals.com or the MLB At Bat app. The full spring training broadcast schedule can be found here.

After Garcia, the list of potential pitchers includes Jayson Aquino, Austin Gomber, Dean Kiekhefer, Mitch Harris, Jeremy Hefner, Miguel Socolovich, and Jordan Walden.
