The Super Bowl ended around 10:30 pm est on Sunday which, according to Twitter, means it's now baseball season.
Only it's not baseball season. Not even close. I'm not sure what Twitter is even talking about. Identifying baseball season is actually pretty easy: It's any point between Opening Day and the end of the World Series. Done. Pitchers and catchers reporting, spring training, whatever else is not baseball season. That's "there are finally a few more things we can discuss" season but that's different from baseball season.
Luckily, VEB season lasts all year and here's what you may have missed yesterday:
Luke Weaver
- Here's the Red Baron's recap on #5 prospect Luke Weaver who drew a comparison to Anthony Reyes. And speaking of Anthony Reyes, this year is the tenth anniversary of the 2006 World Series Championship and the Cardinals will have several giveaways commemorating that team in a July series vs. the Marlins.
Super Bowl Tweets
- The Cardinals and the rest of baseball were watching the Super Bowl and tweeting about it. Here's another one to add to the gallery:
The MVP of this game is us, for watching it.

Dexter Fowler
- I wrote about whether the Cardinals should pursue remaining free agent Dexter Fowler to fill their leadoff spot and to give more insurance to the outfield. While hardly scientific, the exit polls were interesting:
