Howard Megdal has written a book, The Cardinals Way: How One Team Embraced Tradition and Moneyball at the Same Time, and he joined the podcast to discuss the book. I have read the book, and it provides a detailed look at very important decisions over the past several decades that have helped shape the Cardinals present and future. The book goes well into the past discussing the Dewitt family, Red Schoendienst, and George Kissell. It then moves to discussing the transfer from Walt Jocketty to John Mozeliak, and how the Cardinals built their current state of operations despite the defections of major contributors in Jeff Luhnow, Sig Mejdal, and Dan Kantrovitz as well as the hacking scandal that recently popped up.

The book is available now and can be purchased at local retailers and amazon.com.

In the podcast, Howard and I discuss the continuity the Cardinals have created, potential problems replacing front office talent, potential heirs to Red Schoendienst and George Kissell, the hacking scandal, the experience of being inside a draft room, the Cardinals offseason and missing out on Jason Heyward, the comparison between the ownership groups of the Mets and the Cardinals, and how Howard views his role covering women's sports.
