Obviously the big news from yesterday is that we learned the Cardinals are on the verge of signing Dexter Fowler. A press conference is scheduled at Busch Stadium this morning at 10 am St. Louis time. This is good news for the Cardinals and even better news for every obnoxious jerk on the internet whose opinion of this signing will be validated every time Fowler does something good/bad. Looking forward to that.
Also, John Fleming had the scoop on the Fowler signing shortly after word of Fowler’s pending physical in St. Louis leaked.
And here’s what else you may have missed yesterday at VEB:
Hot Stove
In the midst of the Hot Stove rumors, Joe Schwarz explained why the Cardinals would be smart to hold on to Kolten Wong.
Trade prospects for proven players! (Just not this year.)
Ben Markham had some additional thoughts on this year’s seller’s market.
Craig Edwards had the run-down on the Rule 5 Draft and who the Cardinals lost.
Carlos Martinez
Carlos Martinez has received an invitation to pitch for the Dominican Republic in the upcoming World Baseball Classic and has also received the Cardinals’ blessing to participate. Lil Scooter has the details here.
Have a great weekend, everyone.
