As you most certainly heard (and Craig Edwards touched on it here), yesterday afternoon the Cardinals shipped Jaime Garcia to the Braves for a couple of mid-level prospects. Even with a career riddled with injuries, Garcia was a very valuable pitcher for the Cardinals dating back to 2010, a span in which only Adam Wainwright pitched more innings and was worth more wins per fWAR than Garcia.
Garcia was dealt a tough hand from whatever force allocates injuries across the league, but when he was on few were better. He’ll most certainly be missed.
Here’s what you may have missed yesterday at VEB:
Hot Stove
Because it’s the offseason and we can, Joe Schwarz played GM for a day and pondered a trade of Randal Grichuk for Michael Conforto.
‘80s Cardinals
I want someone much smarter than me to take a deep analytical dive into the ‘80s Cardinals and write a book about them.
Carlos Martinez
It’s the offseason but that doesn’t mean Carlos Martinez isn’t working hard on his hashtag game.
CBA
A new Collective Bargaining Agreement has been reached. Find out the particulars and what it means for the Cardinals here.
It’s Friday. Enjoy the day and your weekend, everyone.
