YES YES YES YES YES DO IT DO IT DO ITTTTTTTT

I mean, according to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post Dispatch in his weekly chat both the Cardinals and Carlos Martinez have expressed interesting in inking an extension as the right-hander is set to enter his first year of arbitration.

In 2016, his age twenty-four season, El Gallo was good for 3.4 fWAR, 3.04 ERA, and 3.61 FIP. He posted the lowest strikeout rate of his career as a starter at 21.5%, but coupled that with the highest groundball rate of his career at 56.4%.

Carlos is also very active in the St. Louis community, visiting local schools and providing aid to families in need through his foundation, Tsunami Waves. The foundation has also hosted several fundraisers in the area to help children locally and in the Dominican Republic.

Carlos Martinez is a rising star, becoming a pillar of the community, and is a wonderful clubhouse presence. SIGN THE MAN, DO IT NOW!
