Cardinals news and notes: Peralta, the AFL, and dad strength

A trek through a boring baseball day.

MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates at St. Louis Cardinals Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports

The Cardinals did not play yesterday, though this is nothing out of the ordinary. They, as you may have heard, did not make the playoffs. However, no baseball was played. It’s a drag but this will also be the state of being for five months. It is...unfortunate. But, in the immortal words of Ryan Theriot, it is what it is.

Here is what happened yesterday on VEB.

Jhonny Peralta

I wrote about Jhonny Peralta, his 2016 decline, and what role he can provide for the 2017 team. The answer: maybe a role?

Free agency runners-up

Craig Edwards wrote about how the Cardinals’ tendency to finish second in free agency sweepstakes, while sounding like a loss, is actually not an inherently bad thing at all.

Arizona Fall League

Josey Curtis recapped Thursday’s AFL action, headlined by Cardinals prospects such as Harrison Bader and Rowan Wick.

Matt Carpenter

Lil Scooter wrote about Matt Carpenter and his newborn baby and the dad strength which he now has and which shall guide the Cardinals to (probably) an undefeated 2017 season. You can’t disprove this will be the case, unless you wait 5 12 months to follow up on this post, in which case who is the real loser here? Yells indecipherably

Actual baseball of the non-Cardinals variety happens tonight. The Chicago Cubs might even make the World Series. That’s weird, right? Good thing the Cubs have never blown a 3-2 series NLCS lead with two games left to go at Wrigley Field. Okay, have a good day all.
