Cardinals news and notes: Francona, Mets, Martinez

The Cubs are just a game away from the World Series which is very good news for the Cardinals. That, plus news and notes.

MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates at St. Louis Cardinals Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports

The Cubs are a game away from their first World Series since 1945. That’s good news for them and good news for us because the last time the Cubs needed just one more win to get to the series the Cardinals up and won 105 games the next season and did it instead. If the Cardinals want to do that again in 2017 I would not object.

Here’s what you may have missed yesterday at VEB:

2006 NLCS

I wrote about my favorite game ever - Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS.

Down on the farm

Josey Curtis has a recap of the Glendale-Mesa game.

Carlos Martinez

Carlos Martinez isn’t on Twitter. And why not? It’s such a great place.
