On Thursday, the Glendale Desert Dogs hosted the Mesa Solar Sox in a matinee at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Arizona.
Desert Dogs 3, Solar Sox 2
- Harrison Bader (LF): 1-3, RBI, K
- Rowan Wick (RP): 1 IP, 1 K (pitched the sixth inning)
With a run in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Desert Dogs overcame an early 2-0 deficit to take Thursday’s contest from the Solar Sox, 3-2.
The Desert Dogs’ victory on Thursday is just their third win in nine games so far in the Arizona Fall League.
Facing Solar Sox reliever Josh Stilson, a pitcher in the Blue Jays’ organization, tied at two in the eighth inning, Ramon Laurenano doubled to reach base with one out. After the second out of the inning was made, Laureano took off for third base, causing Solar Sox backstop Victor Caratini to make a throw over. Nevertheless, Caratini threw the ball away and was charged with a throwing error, one that led to the game-winning run for the Desert Dogs.
The two Cardinals in this game made an impact, beginning with Harrison Bader. The starting left-fielder on Thursday, Bader went 1-for-3 with an RBI, one that tied the game at 2-2 at the time. Reliever Rowan Wick also appeared in the game. Wick turned in a scoreless sixth inning and punched out a batter.
