Hi. It’s the middle of October and it’s weird to adjust to the fact that the Cardinals haven’t played for 15 days. Is this a sign that we, and I, are/am spoiled? Yes. Absolutely, it is. But baseball continues without us, and VEB continues without actual Major League Baseball to analyze. And here’s what we talked about this weekend.
Zach Duke
On Friday afternoon, it was announced that Zach Duke, acquired at the trade deadline in 2016 from the Chicago White Sox, underwent Tommy John surgery and will miss the 2017 season. I wrote about this on Saturday morning.
Jedd Gyorko
Jedd Gyorko was one of the weirder players for the 2016 Cardinals, and Ben Markham evaluated how the Cardinals should view him going forward.
Arizona Fall League updates
Josey Curtis recapped Friday night’s AFL action here, and she recapped Saturday’s action here.
Prospects
The red baron looked at some players in the Cardinals’ farm system and evaluated what trade value they might have this off-season.
Yet another week of playoff baseball not involving the Cardinals awaits us. Eventually, there will be (non-TJ related) Cardinals news.
