Yesterday's Scores

There was only the one game yesterday, and, frankly, it went quite poorly, so there will be no highlights per se. Corey Littrell, who enjoyed a solid season this year was tagged for 5 runs on 13 hits in 5 1/3 IP. While he didn't surrender any walks, only two of the opposing batters went down on strikes. The bullpen fared no better, surrendering an additional 9 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks, and striking out just two.

Things were equally bleak offensively. PB collected just five hits, though three were for doubles, and one walk. Mason Katz, in RF, had the best game, going 1-for-2 with the walk and one of the doubles; he also had an OF assist, catching Steven Souza Jr. attempting to stretch his single to a double in the first. Blake Drake pinch hit for Katz in the 9th, and had a single. C.J. McElroy had a good game as well, with an outfield assist and double of his own.

Tonight's Games

Palm Beach will now travel to Charlotte to face the Stone Crabs in the second game of this best-of-three series for the Division Championship -- Charlotte having had the best record in the first half, and Palm Beach the best in the second. It's an elimination game for the Cardinals. The starter is TBD.

The Peoria Chiefs will host the Kane County Cougars to open their playoff series. It is also a best-of-three series. Last year's compensation round pick, Jack Flaherty, will be the starter for Peoria. He had a 2.84 ERA in the regular season with a K:BB ration greater than 3:1.
