St. Louis Cardinals prospect report: Alex Reyes strikes out eight; Austin Gomber dominates; Anthony Garcia notches two hits; Paul DeJong keeps raking

Triple-A:  Memphis 9, Oklahoma City 0

  • Every starter (including Greenwood) except for catcher Travis Tartamella had one hit.
  • Ed Easley and Matt Williams doubled.
  • Jeremy Hazelbaker homered.
  • Tommy Pham went 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored, and an RBI.

Double-A:  Springfield 6, NW Arkansas 3

  • Anthony Garcia went 2-for-5 with a walk, strikeout, and run scored.
  • Jonathan Rodriguez went 1-for-6 with a dinger and two strikeouts.
  • Alex Reyes:  4.1 IP, 8 SO, 2 BB, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 80 pitches.

Low-A:  Peoria 5, Wisconsin 1

  • 2015 fourth-rounder Paul DeJong went 2-for-5 with a double and two Ks.
  • Darren Seferina had two hits, including a triple.
  • Kenny Peoples-Walls rapped out two singles and worked a walk.
  • Austin Gomber:  7.2 IP, 7 SO, 0 BB, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER.

Short Season A:  State College 10, Vermont 1

  • Jhohan Acevedo went 2-for-five with two runs scored, two RBIs, and two strikeouts.
  • Leobaldo Pina went 2-for-four with a double and a K.
  • Casey Grayson had three hits, inluding a double.

GCL:  Mets 2, Cardinals 0

  • Dylan Tice, Allen Cordoba, Luis Bandes, Carlos Torres, and 2015 second-round pick Bryce Denton all singled.
  • The Cardinals did not draw a walk or connect for an extra-base hit. They had six Ks to five hits.
  • 2015 eight-round selection Ian Oxnevad: 3 IP, 0 SO, 1 BB, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER.
  • 2015 second-rounder Jake Woodford: 4 IP, 3 SO, 1BB, 5 H, 0 R.

DSL:  Cardinals 3, Rangers 1

  • Sanel Rosendo went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored.
  • Dariel Gomez went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Rookie:  Johnson City 4, Elizabethron 13

  • Every starter had a hit except for Anthony Ray, who started in right field and batted ninth.
  • Elieszar Alvarez went 3-for-5.
  • Allen Stanton and 2015 17th-round-pick Chris Chinea both had two hits, including a double.
