John Lackey vs Bartolo Colon will throw baseballs professionally

Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

The 57-33 Cardinals pushed their lead in the NL Central to 3.5 games last night while the 47-43 Mets fell to 2.5 back of the Nationals in the East. It's getting to the point in the season when it's worth looking at the standings, and that feels good. John Lackey and Bartolo Colon have thrown nearly 5300 innings with very similar numbers.

Lackey: 3.98 ERA : 3.87 FIP : 3.98 xFIP for 39.3 fWAR in 2380 innings (159-122)

Colon: 3.97 ERA : 4.04 FIP : 4.08 xFIP for 46.5 fWAR in 2891 innings (213-148)

Lackey: 18.5 K% : 6.8 BB% : 9.5 HR/FB% : 43.7 GB%

Colon: 17.9 K% : 6.8 BB% : 10.1 HR/FB% : 41.5 GB%
