Daily Farm Report: 6/30/2015

Some excellent performances on the farm yesterday, despite the 3-4 record for Cardinal affiliates.

Scores:

Oklahoma City 2 Memphis 1

Palm Beach 5 Daytona 1

Peoria 7 Clinton 2

Staten Island 5 State College 3

DSL Astros Orange 7 DSL Cardinals 5

GCL Mets 7 GCL Cardinals 6

Johnson City 8 Pulaski 2

Birds:

Rob Kaminsky (SP, A+): 7 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 K

Eleven ground ball outs in 24 batters faced, just 5 balls out of the infield in his 7 innings of work. Kaminsky continues to dominate Florida State League bats.  None of this really surprises me all that much given his talent and how poor the offense is in that league. Once Kaminsky and Reyes get to the Texas League we'll have a lot better idea of their talent.

That said: In his last 180.2 innings, Kaminsky has given up just 143 hits while striking out 149. Wowza.

Harrison Bader (OF, SS-A): 2-4, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI, K

Harrison Bader's Task List - June 2015:

  • Sign Contract with Cardinals
  • Crush two homers in first game after signing contract
  • Build palace made out of crystals
  • Save Earth from certain doom
Two out of four isn't bad I guess.

Paul DeJong (3B, R-JC): 2-4, 2 R, 2B, HR, 5 RBI

Small sample sizes are fun: 32 PA, .519/.667/.926, 5 2B, 2 HR, and 7 K so far in his pro career.  Nowhere to go but up, right Mr. Ruth?

Julio Mateo (RHP, R-JC): 4.1 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 9 K

This is as dominant an outing as Mateo has had since July of last year in the GCL. He's only 19 and in his 3rd professional season and certain seems to have the stuff to dominate a lineup from time to time -- he's just not at all consistent in doing so, as his game log shows this year.
