Jaime Garcia vs. Mike Pelfrey

The 1987 World Series rematch comes to an end this afternoon at Target Field. The St. Louis Cardinals (43-22) play the Minnesota Twins (35-30) in the last of the clubs’ four games against one another this week and for the season. The question on everyone’s mind: Will manager Mike Matheny once against sacrifice the DH by shifting the player he assigned that position in the lineup card to the field? Yadier Molina is starting at DH today, so it’s possible even though the Cardinals are still inexplicably carrying three catchers on the 25-man active roster.

The Cardinals Lineup:

1) Kolten Wong, 2B

2) Matt Carpenter, 3B

3) Jhonny Peralta, SS

4) Mark Reynolds, 1B

5) Yadier Molina, DH

6) Jason Heyward, RF

7) Peter Bourjos, CF

8) Jon Jay, LF

9) Tony Cruz, C

Jaime Garcia, SP

The Twins Lineup:

2) Joe Mauer, DH

3) Trevor Plouffe, 3B

4) Torii Hunter, RF

5) Eddie Rosario, LF

6) Eduardo Nunez, SS

7) Kurt Suzuki, C

8) Kennys Vargas, 1B
