The first-place St. Louis Cardinals (20-6, .769) go for the sweep at Busch Stadium against the second-place Chicago Cubs (13-12, .520). The Cardinals lead the Cubs by 6.5 games entering play tonight, the third-place Reds by 7.5 games, the fourth-place Pirates by 8.0 games, and the last-place Brewers by 12.5 games. Against the Cubs' $155 million lefthanded ace who can't execute a pick-off throw to first base, manager Mike Matheny will bat the seventh-best yet speediest batsman in the St. Louis lineup first. In addition to Jon Jay, lefthanded hitters Matt Adams and Kolten Wong will get the night off as the Cards go for the sweep.
