Daily Farm Report: Lyons and Tuivailala shut out Round Rock

Big games from Luke Voit and Blake Drake highlight the night as the system goes 3-1.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Memphis 3 - Round Rock 0

Notables:
  • Dean Anna (SS): 0-3, BB
  • Stephen Piscotty (RF): 0-4
  • Xavier Scruggs (DH): 0-3, BB, K
  • Ty Kelly (3B): 1-3, R, HR, RBI, K
  • Rafael Orgeta (CF): 1-2, R, BB, SB
  • Tyler Lyons (SP): 8 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K
  • Sam Tuivailala (RP): 1 IP, 1 H
Ty Kelly has been struggling badly so far in Memphis. The timing of his slump has been unfortunate, all of the injuries on the big club left ample opportunity for a call up. Tuesday's homer was his first extra base hit since April 18th, hopefully his season will start to turn around soon.

The members of the Tyler Lyons Fan Club (maybe just myself and tehzachatak at this point) and I'm sure Tyler himself were disappointed he didn't get the call to take Adam Wainwright's turn in the rotation on Thursday. Lyons responded with his best start of the season striking out 6 and walking 1 through 8 innings and pulling his traditional stats closer to his strong peripherals on the young season.

Wednesday Probables: Off Day

Northwest Arkansas 6 - Springfield 5

Notables:
  • Charlie Tilson (CF): 1-5, K, 2 SB, Outfield Assist
  • Breyvic Valera (2B): 1-5, CS
  • Jacob Wilson (3B): 1-5, R, K
  • Jonathan Rodriguez (1B): 2-3, R, BB
  • Aledmys Diaz (SS): 1-3, BB
  • Mike Ohlman (C): 3-4, R, 2 RBI
  • Thomas Lee (SP): 6 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 1 HR
Charlie Tilson's contact and speed based assault on the Texas League continues. The two bases he swiped were his 7th and 8th of the season and moved him up to second place on the Texas League leaderboard.

Wednesday Probables: Springfield (Hald) @ NW Arkansas (Ferguson)

Palm Beach 3 - Ft. Myers 1

Notables:
  • Bruce Caldwell (3B): 1-3, R, BB
  • Luke Voit (1B): 2-4, 2 R, 2B, HR, 2 RBI, K
  • Rowan Wick (RF): 0-4
  • Carson Kelly (C): 1-4
  • Rob Kaminsky (SP): 5 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 3 K
  • Kyle Barraclough (RP): 1 IP, 3 K

Luke Voit provided most of the fireworks for the Palm Beach offense. His double and homer were the only extra base hits for the club. He has hit the ground running in 2015, through 70 AB he is slashing .314/..410/.443.

It wasn't Rob Kaminsky's strongest start of the year, his four walks pushed his BB% for the season up over 10% which is probably not quite as ugly as it looks... Kyle "Bear Claw" Barraclough struck out the side in the ninth. So far his results have been much better in his second crack at the Florida State League than they were in his 18 innings with Palm Beach last year.

Wednesday Probables: Off Day

Peoria 7 - Beloit 1

Notables:
  • Magneuris Sierra (CF): 1-5, 2 K
  • Oscar Mercado (SS): 1-4, 2B, RBI, 2 K
  • Danny Diekroeger (3B): 1-3, R, BB, K
  • Justin Ringo (1B): 2-4, R, RBI
  • Steve Bean (C): 1-3, R, BB, BB
  • Blake Drake (RF): 2-4, 2 R, 2B, HR, 3 RBI
  • Luis Perdomo (SP): 6 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 3 K
  • Zach Loraine (RP): 2 IP, 1 H, 2 K
  • Kyle Grana (RP): 1 IP, 1 H, 1 K
Magneuris Sierra's adjustment to full-season ball has been rough so far, he was thrown out on the basepaths last night as well...Last night was Blake Drake's first home run of the season, but half of his 10 hits so far have gone for extra bases.

Wednesday Probables: Beloit (Mendez) @ Peoria (Gomber)
