Omaha 6 - Memphis5
Notables:
- Mike O'Neill (LF) 1-4, K
- Stephen Piscotty (RF): 0-4, R, K
- Xavier Scruggs (1B): 1-4, R, 2B, RBI, 2 K
- Scott Moore (3B): 1-3, 2 RBI, BB, 2 K, SB
- Cody Stanley (DH): 0-4, R, 2 K
- Rafael Orgeta (CF): 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI
- Tyler Lyons (SP): 3.2 IP, 10 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 5 K
- Dean Kiekhefer (RP): 1.2 IP, H, 3 K
It was a fairly forgettable night for the Redbird offense, although Xavier Scruggs was able to keep up his strong start. His 4th inning double was his 4th of the season to go along with his 4 homers which pushed his ISO to an even .400.
Tyler Lyons would probably like to forget last night's game as well. He allowed 13 Storm Chasers to reach base in 3.2 innings and it took him 89 pitches to record 11 outs. His night could have been even worse had Tyler Waldren not been able to wriggle out of the bases loaded situation Lyons left him.
Yes that is former Future Redbird Brian Broderick who picked up the win last night.
Probables Probables: Memphis (Gast) @ Omaha (Mortensen)
Springfield 5 - Arkansas 0
Notables:
- Charlie Tilson (CF): 1-4, 2 RBI
- Jacob Wilson (3B): 0-4, K
- Jonathan Rodriguez (DH): 1-4, R, HR, 2 RBI, K
- Breyvic Valera (2B): 2-4, R
- Aledmys Diaz (SS): 2-3, R, RBI, BB, SB
- Thomas Lee (SP): 7 IP, 6 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K
- Chris Thomas (RP): 1 IP, BB
Aledmys Diaz' steal was his first of the season, but he has been a surprising aggressive base runner thus far in his stateside career. He swiped 6 bags in 34 Texas League games last season before he was injured. Breyvic Valera has not lived up to his nickname yet this season. He has only been able to scratch out 10 hits, none of which have gone for extra bases.
Thursday was a nice bounce back start for Thomas Lee, he had been bombed for 14 runs in 9.1 innings in his two previous starts this season. Chris Thomas is unscored upon in 8.2 innings this year, and the walk he issued last night was the first free pass he has allowed all season. The bad news is that it appears that he is still struggling to strike out AA hitters.
Friday Probables: Arkansas (A. Wood) @ Springfield (Hald)
Charlotte 1 - Palm Beach 0
Notables:
- Mason Katz (1B): 0-4, 2 K
- Bruce Caldwell (3B): 0-3, BB, K
- Luke Voit (1B): 0-3, BB
- Rowan Wick (RF): 2-4
- Trey Nielsen (SP): 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 4 BB, 1 K
The Palm Beach offense last night did not make it easy for me to write a DFR this morning. Rowan Wick picked up a pair of singles, and he did not strike out. That was about it.
Trey Nielsen was the tough luck loser. He got through 6 innings without allowing a run in a most unfascist manner. He only struck out 1 Stone Crab, but he did induce 10 groundouts.
Friday Probables: Palm Beach (Littrell) @ Charlotte (G. Marquez)
Quad Cities 4 - Peoria 3
Notables:
- Magneuris Sierra (CF): 0-3, BB, K
- Oscar Mercado (SS): 1-3, R, SB
- Justin Ringo (1B): 1-4, R, 2 K
- Collin Radack (RF): 1-4, K
- Steve Bean (C): 1-4, K
- Blake Drake (RF): 0-3, K
- Daniel Poncedeleon (SP): 5.1 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, BB, 7 K
- Zach Loraine (RP): 1 IP, K
Another tough game to write-up (come on guys). The Chiefs picked up 7 hits, but they were all singles, and only picked up 1 RBI.
Daniel Poncedeleon was a bright spot again for Peoria, however. In his first taste of full-season ball he has struck out 15 Midwest League batters against 4 walks over 17.2 innings.
Friday Probables: Peoria (Baez, F.) @ Wisconsin (Torez, O.)
