St. Louis Cardinals Prospect Report: Wins for Cooney and Kaminsky

Piscotty raps three hits, and Gomber Ks 8 but allows three round trippers.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports
Memphis beats Omaha, 7 - 2

  • Ty Kelly, 2B, 0 for 4, BB, R, Throwing Error
  • Cody Stanley, DH, 0 for 3, 2 BBs, 2 Runs
  • Stephen Piscotty, RF, 3 for 5, 2B, K, R, 2 RBI
  • Greg Garcia, SS, 2 for 4, 3B, BB, R, 3 RBI
  • Tim Cooney, 5 IP, 8 Ks, 3 BBs, 3 Hits, ER, 2 Runs
  • Michael Socolovich, 2 IP, K, H
  • Sam Tuivailala, 1 IP, K
  • Nick Greenwood, 1 IP, K
This double brings Piscotty's ISO up to .256 this year. It's far too early to make any definitive statements about finding his power, but it's exciting nonetheless and playing well always beats the pants off of not playing well.

Cooney struck out eight of twenty, which is great (40%), but also walked three (15%). It's a great game line, but if you're watching Cooney's control closely you might find a 5:2 K:BB rate more reassuring.

Palm Beach beats Fort Myers, 7 - 2

  • Mason Katz, 1B, 2 for 4, BB, K, R
  • Bruce Caldwell, 3B, 2 for 4, 2B, K, 2 Runs, 2 RBI
  • Luke Voit, DH, 2 for 4, K, R
  • Rowan Wick, RF, 0 for 4, RBI, K, Outfield Assist
  • Carson Kelly, C, 1 for 4, 2B, R, 2 RBI
  • Juan Herrera, SS, 1 for 3, 2B, BB
  • Rob Kaminsky, 5 IP, 6 Ks, 2 BBs, 6 Hits, 2 ER

Just another plus outing from Kaminsky. At this rate he's extremely likely to be in AA before the end of the season, maybe by the All-Star Break.

Katz has picked up where he left off, as his power really started to show in the 2nd half last year. While he's 24, he has continued to hit this season and could be promoted to AA as well. Showing good defense at 2B ( where he has played six games this year, with two at 1B and the rest as DH) will certainly help his cause, as he may not have the bat to make the majors as a first baseman.

Peoria loses to Quad Cities, 2 - 6

  • Magneuris Sierra, CF, 1 for 4, K, R, CS
  • Oscar Mercado, SS, 0 for 4, 2 Ks
  • Steve Bean, C, 0 for 3, 2 Ks
  • Austin Gomber, 5 2/3 IP, 8 Ks, 3 BBs, 3 HRs, 5 Hits, 6 ER
