Hunt and Peck: Five hours until Opening Day at Busch Stadium!

Not like I am counting or anything...

Frank Victores-USA TODAY Sports

I have never been to an Opening Day at Busch Stadium, but I have heard good things. The Clydesdales, the Hall of Famers, the player introductions, the inevitable rainfall are all a cherished part of the Home Opener experience. Here is a quick timeline events for those of you able to witness it all in person!

  • 11:00 a.m. - Pre-game pep rally begins
  • 1:15 p.m. - Gates open
  • 2:30 p.m.- Pre-game ceremonies begin
Willie McGee to throw out the first pitch to Ozzie Smith, a tribute to the late Oscar Taveras, and a moment of silence for Taveras as well as Bryan Burwell of the St. Louis Post Dispatch
  • 3:15 p.m. - Adam Wainwright takes the mound in his fourth home-opener start; play ball!
Just a reminder to all fans, there are now metal detecters at all the stadium entrances. For Illinois drivers, the ramp from the Poplar Street Bridge and Eastbound I-44 is closed for construction. Alternate routes include the 9th Street ramp or "The Stan Span" - which is how my uncle refers the Musial Veterans Bridge.
Have fun today!
