Memphis 2 - New Orleans 2 (Suspended)
Notables:
- Tommy Pham (CF): 0-2, R, RBI, 2 SB (19,20)
- Stephen Piscotty (RF): 0-2
- Xavier Scruggs (1B): 0-2
-
Rafael Ortega (LF): 1-2, R
-
Zach Petrick (SP): 4 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 6 K, HR
Notes:
- The game last night night was suspended due to rain with a man on and nobody out in the bottom of the 5th.
- The rain ruined what was shaping up to be a very strong start from Zach Petrick. He did allow a homer, but that was the only extra base hit he allowed, and 3 of the other 5 hits he allowed were infield singles.
Springfield 5 - Arkansas 2 (7 Innings)
Notables:
- Greg Garcia (SS): 1-3, RBI, K, SB (1)
- Breyvic Valera (2B): 1-4, 2 RBI
- Tony Cruz (C): 1-3
- Jonathan Rodriguez (1B): 1-2, 2 R
- Patrick Wisdom (3B): 0-3
- David Popkins (LF): 1-3, R
- Matt Williams (CF): 1-2, R, RBI, BB, SB (13)
Arkansas 1 - Springfield 0 (7 Innings)
Notables:
- Breyvic Valera (2B): 1-3, K
- Alex Mejia (SS): 1-2, BB, SB (2)
- Cody Stanley (C): 0-3, K
- Patrick Wisdom (3B): 0-3, K
- Ryan Sherriff (SP): 4.2 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 3 K
Notes:
- Springfield played a pair of 7 inning games against Tulsa.
- In the 1st game only 8 Cardinals reached base, and the team couldn't manage an extra base hit, but they were still somehow able to plate 5 runs.
- The Tulsa pitching staff carved the S-Cards up in the 2nd game, striking out 8 batters and only allowing 3 singles.
- It was another tough day for Pat Wisdom, he went 0-6 with a strikeout.
- Springfield will close out their season tonight against Tulsa.
Palm Beach 11 - St. Lucie 5 (12 Innings)
Notables:
- Nick Martini (CF): 1-7, 2 RBI, 3 K
- Derek Gibson (RF): 3-4, 3 H, 2B, HR, 3 RBI, 2 BB
- Jimmy Bosco (LF): 1-5, R, 3B, RBI, 2 K
- Luke Voit (DH): 2-4, R, 2 RBI, BB, K
- David Washington (1B): 1-4, 2 R, 2B, 2 BB, SB (2)
- Adam Ehrlich (C): 1-6, R, RBI
- Juan Herrera (SS): 1-2, 2 R, BB, K
- Corey Littrell (SP): 5 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
-
Dixon Llorens (RP): 3 IP, 1 H, 6 K
Notes:
- The game was knotted up at 5 headed into the 12th, and then the Palm Beach went off for 6 runs, 5 of which were scored with 2 outs.
- With 6 strikeouts in 3 IP, Dixon Llorens finishes the season with 74 strikeouts and a 40.9 K% in 43.2 Florida State League innings.
- Bradenton's win over Charlotte eliminated Palm Beach from postseason contention, which means unfortunately I have probably typed "Dixon Llorens" for the last time this season.
- Derek Gibson was making his Florida State League debut, he went 3-4, with a homer a double a couple of walks, 3 runs and 3 RBI, which is OK I guess.
Peoria 4 - Kane County 2
Notables:
- Vaughn Bryan (LF): 1-5, R
- CJ McElroy (CF): 10-4
- Justin Ringo (1B): 2-5, R, HR, 3 RBI
- Ronald Castillo (DH): 1-4, R
- Rowan Wick (RF): 1-3, 2B, BB, K
- Steve Bean (C): 1-3, BB, K
- Rafael Medina (3B): 1-3, R, RBI
- Alex Reyes (SP): 6.2 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 8 K
- Kyle Barraclough (RP): 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, BB, 2 K
Notes:
- The Chiefs win coupled with a loss by Wisconsin means the Peoria is just a game back in the Wild Card standings headed into the last day of the season.
- Alex Reyes' 1st regular seasons in a full-season league is now under his belt. He finished the year 7-7 in 109.1 IP with a 29.5% K% and a 13.5% BB%, a 3.63 ERA, and a 3.45 FIP. A look at his game log shows occasionally brilliant starts mixed in with games where he struggled with his command, which is probably pretty close to people's expectations coming into the season.
State College 12 - Batavia 11 (15 Innings)
Notables:
- Robelys Reyes (SS): 2-7, RBI, SB (15)
- Danny Diekroeger (3B): 1-6, R, 2 BB, K
- Darren Seferina (PR) 0-0, SB (19)
- Alex De Leon (1B): 3-7, 2 R, 2 2B, RBI
- Kenny People-Wals (P): 1-1, R
- Brett Wiley (2B): 3-8, R, 4 RBI, K
- Collin Radack (LF): 3-7, 2 R, RBI, K
- Fernando Baez (SP): 4 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 4 BB, 4 K
- Kyle Grana (RP): 2.1 IP, 1 R, 1 H, 4 K
- Brandon Lee (RP): 3 IP, 2 H, 5K
- Josh Lucas (RP): 2 IP, 1 H, 4 K
- Jake Stone (RP): 0.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R
- Kenny Peoples-Walls 0.1 IP, BB
Notes:
- State College held on to win what turned out to be a pretty bizarre game. The game was tied at 9 after 9, but then both bullpens threw 5 scoreless innings. Jake Stone who started the game at DH pitched the top of the 15th for State College, but he allowed 4 hits and 2 runs and was unable to finish the inning. State College then summoned left fielder Kenny Peoples-Walls from the bench to get the final out of the inning. Peoples-Walls stayed in to bat in the bottom of the inning (because why not?), and had a hit in the 3 run rally that won the game.
- The win kept the Spikes tied with the Tri-City Valley Cats for the 2nd seed in the New York-Penn League postseason tournament, but the Spikes will need to pull ahead of Tri-City today, the Valley Cats hold the tie breaker.
