Memphis lost to Sacramento 3 - 6

  • Thomas Pham (CF), 1 for 5, K, R, Error
  • Randal Grichuk (LF), 2 for 4, 2B, R
  • Stephen Piscotty (RF), 1 for 3, RBI
  • Xavier Scruggs (1B), 0 for 3, BB, K
  • Pete Kozma (SS), 1 for 4, K, SB
  • Zach Petrick, 0.0 IP, 0 Ks, 3 BBs, 4 Hits, HR, 5 ER, 7 Batters, 39 Pitches, 21 Strikes
  • Kevin Siegrist, 1.0 IP, K
Notes:

Petrick was obviously hit hard in this one. Since his career took off last summer, AAA has been his first real test, and it has been a struggle. His ERA there is 4.84 this season, and 5.45 in his last 10 starts. His K:BB ratios have been pretty mediocre at 69:35 for Memphis, and he has been shelled by 15 home runs in 106 IP. Hopefully he can work to improve next year, but keep in mind that for a guy who burst onto the prospect scene so quickly last season, he's already 25 since he was signed as an undrafted 5th year senior.

Springfield beat NW Arkansas 2 - 1

  • Charlie Tilson (LF), 0 for 4
  • Breyvic Valera (2B), 0 for 4, K
  • Cody Stanley (C), 1 for 4, SB
  • Rafael Ortega (CF), 1 for 4, K, RBI, SB
  • Alex Mejia (SS), 2 for 3, HR, K, RBI, R, CS
  • Kyle Hald, 6 1/3 IP, 7 Ks, 3 BBs, 6 Hits, ER
  • Sam Tuivailala, 2/3 IP, H
Notes:

This is almost certainly Mejia's best season so far, at least offensively. His .675 OPS between Palm Beach and Springfield is hardly mind-blowing, but he's up to .280/.346/.373 in 36 games for Springfield. That's pretty solid for a 23 year old SS. Of course, it's a bit of cherry-picking to not include his lesser Palm Beach numbers, but after posting a .574 OPS between Peoria and Palm Beach in 2013, Mejia has put himself back on the watch list. He could be rounding out a Cardinals Top 20 Prospects list come February.

Palm Beach beat Jupiter 4 - 3

  • Aledmys Diaz (DH), 2 for 4, 2 Ks
  • Luke Voit (1B), 2 for 4, 2B, K, R
  • Anthony Garcia (LF), 0 for 3, K, R
  • Mason Katz (2B), 0 for 3, R
  • Nick Petree, 7 1/3 IP, 2 Ks, 0 BBs, 6 Hits, 3 Runs, 2 ER
Notes:

Nick Petree has had a pretty excellent season this year, with a 2.06 ERA over 118 IP between Peoria and Palm Beach. His peripherals don't quite match that, but they're still pretty decent as he's striking out about 20% of his opponents in the Florida State League, and walking only ~5%. That's pretty neat, even for a guy that's already 24 in his first full season (he was drafted in the 9th round  last year).

Peoria beat Beloit 7 - 4

  • C.J. McElroy (CF), 1 for 4, 2B
  • Juan Herrera (SS), 2 for 3, HR, RBI, 2 Runs
  • Carson Kelly (C), 0 for 2, BB
  • Rowan Wick (RF), 1 for 4, 2 Ks, R, RBI
  • Steve Bean (DH), 1 for 2, BB, R, RBI
  • Luis Perdomo, 5.0 IP, 6 Ks, 2 BBs, 5 Hits, 4 ER
  • Jhonny Polanco, 3.0 IP, 5 Ks, 0 BBs, 0 Hits
  • Kyle Barraclough, 1.0 IP, 3 Ks, BB, H
Notes:

Carson Kelly has been a bit of a disappointment so far. He hasn't embarrassed himself with the bat, and his transition up the defensive spectrum seems to have gone pretty well, but he hasn't flashed the offensive potential that made him an exciting prospect. He's walking a healthy amount, and his strikeout rate is pretty reasonable, but neither metric is outstanding and his ISO and BABIP aren't particularly appealing either. He's still pretty young, just 20, but it has been a bit of a letdown to not see him take off just a little yet.

State College lost to Auburn 4 - 5

  • Darren Seferina (DH), 0 for 2, BB
  • Nick Thompson (RF), 1 for 3, 2 BBs, RBI, Error
  • Jake Stone (1B), 1 for 5
  • Dewyn Perez, 5.0 IP, 4 Ks, 3 BBs, 5 Hits, 3 ER

GCL Cardinals lost to the GCL Mets 0 - 4

  • Magneuris Sierra (CF), 0 for 4, K
  • Edmundo Sosa (SS), 1 for 4, SB
  • Malik Collymore (DH), 0 for 4, 3 Ks
  • Elier Rodriguez (1B), 0 for 4, K
  • Frederis Parra, 6.0 IP, 8 Ks, BB, 5 Hits, 0 ER

DSL Cardinals and DSL Nationals was Suspended 0 - 0 in the top of the 6th
