Affiliates were winless on Friday: 0-7

Brian Kersey

Omaha 4 Memphis 3

Notables:
  • Tommy Pham (CF): 0-4, 3 K
  • Randal Grichuk (LF): 0-4, 2 K
  • Stephen Piscotty (RF): 1-4, R, HR, RBI, 2 K
  • Xavier Scruggs (1B): 1-3, R, BB, K
  • Greg Garcia (2B): 2-4, R, 2B, K
  • Tim Cooney (SP): 5.2 IP, 13 H, 4 R, 4 ER, BB, 3 K, HR
Notes:
  • Aussie Liam Hendricks struck out 13 Memphis hitters in 7 innings to post his first win for the Royals organization. He led the Twins entire organization in strikeouts last year.
  • The Storm Chasers pounded Cooney all over the ballpark, starting in the first inning and never really taking their foot off the gas until he was out of the game in the 6th.
  • Piscotty's homer was his 7th on the year.

Arkansas 4 Springfield 1

Notables:

  • Charlie Tilson (CF): 2-5, K, CS (2)
  • Mike O'Neill (LF): 1-5, K
  • Breyvic Valera (2B): 0-4, R
  • Jonathan Rodriguez (1B): 0-1, 3 BB
  • Cody Stanley (DH): 2-4, K
  • Patrick Wisdom (3B): 3-3, 2B, 3B, BB
  • Rafael Ortega (RF): 0-3, BB, 2 K
  • Kurt Heyer (SP): 7 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 2 K
  • Lee Stoppelman (RP): 0.2 IP, H, R, K
Notes:
  • Nine hits and just one unearned run to show for it.
  • Heyer has been up and down this season in AA, but this was a nice outing, giving up runs in the 1st and 4th innings and making it through the 7th on just 97 pitches.

Dunedin 10 Palm Beach 8

Notables:
  • Bruce Caldwell (3B): 1-4, R, HR, RBI, BB, 2 K
  • Luke Voit (1B): 2-5, 2 R, HR, RBI, K
  • David Popkins (RF): 2-5, 2 R, 2B, 3B, RBI, 3 K
  • Anthony Garcia (LF): 0-4, 2 K
  • Mason Katz (2B): 2-4, R, K
  • Nick Martini (CF): 2-4, R, HR, 3 RBI
  • Luke Weaver (SP): 1.2 IP, 5 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, K, HR
  • Dixon Llorens (RP): 2 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, K, HR
Notes:
  • Welcome to professional baseball Luke Weaver!  Let's hope your entire family wasn't here to see this one...
  • Caldwell homered for the second straight game, giving him 11 on the season in the FSL. That's a pretty darn good total in a pitchers league for a guy playing 2B and 3B.

Wisconsin 5 Peoria 1

Notables:
  • Vaughn Bryan (DH): 0-3, R, BB, 2 K
  • CJ McElroy (CF):1-4
  • Justin Ringo (1B): 1-4, RBI, 2 K
  • Ronald Castillo (RF): 1-4, 2B, 2 K
  • Rowan Wick (LF): 0-3, BB, K, E
  • Steve Bean (C): 1-3, K
  • Luis Perdomo (SP): 6 IP, 3 H, 4 ER, 5 BB, 3 K, HR
  • Zach Loraine (RP): 2 IP, 2 H, K
Notes:
  • The Chiefs were getting shut out until Ringo drove home Vaughn Bryan with one out in the ninth inning
  • While this team does play in a pitcher's park, other teams don't seem to have near as many issues scoring runs as they do....

Aberdeen 5 State College 4

Notables:
  • Danny Diekroeger (3B): 0-5, K
  • Alex De Leon (DH): 0-5, K
  • Nick Thompson (RF): 1-4, 2 R, BB, K
  • Brian O'Keefe (C): 2-3, R, 2B, RBI
  • Austin Gomber (SP): 4.1 IP, 6 H, ER, 2 BB, 5 K
  • Kyle Grana (RP): 1.1 IP, H, ER, 4 BB, 3 K
Notes:
  • Danny Diekroeger got some nice run in Jeff Moore's Minor league report on Wednesday.
  • Austin Gomber hasn't lit the world on fire, but he's been decent in his first 6 starts. Clearly he's being pitch limited thus far, as he's not gotten a chance to pitch in the 5th inning of any of his starts (another reason why looking at record for minor league pitchers is a futile exercise)

Greeneville 4 Johnson City 1

Notables:
  • Casey Grayson (1B): 0-3, BB
  • Blake Drake (CF): 1-3, BB. K
  • Devante Lacy (RF): 1-4, K
  • Oscar Mercado (SS): 0-3, BB
  • Chris Rivera (3B): 0-4, K
