Springfield beat Tulsa 9 - 4
- Charlie Tilson (LF-CF), 2 for 5, HR, K, 2 Runs, 2 RBI
- Breyvic Valera (2B), 2 for 5, 3B, K, R, RBI
- James Ramsey (CF-RF), 1 for 3, 2B, 2 BBs, RBI, R
- Rafael Ortega (RF), 1 for 4, RBI
- Mike O'Neill (PH-LF), 2 for 2, R
- Jimmy Reed, 6.0 IP, 2 Ks, 2 BBs, 3 Hits, ER
- Mitch Harris, 1.0 IP, K, 3 Hits, HR, 3 ER
Notes:
That's Tilson's first HR at AA, after just six games. He had just five in 88 games for Palm Beach. He is making good contact so far, hitting .310 and slugging .483 so far, though he has no BBs as of yet.
Palm Beach beat Lakeland 11 - 0
- Nick Martini (CF), 3 for 5, 2 HRs, 2 Runs, 5 RBI
- Luke Voit (1B), 2 for 5, HR, K, 2 Runs, 2 RBI, Fielding Error
- David Popkins (RF), 3 for 4, 2B, 2 Runs
- Anthony Garcia (LF), 2 for 4, 2 Runs
- Mason Katz (2B), 2 for 4, 2B, R, 2 RBI
- Corey Baker, 5.0 IP, 6 Ks, BB, 3 Hits, 0 ER
- Thomas Lee, 2.0 IP, 3 Ks, 3 Hits
- Logan Billbrough, 2.0 IP, 4 Ks, 3 Hits
Notes:
I haven't covered Nick Martini much this season, but his .763 OPS is decent for the FSL. However, as a 24 year old below AA, he really needs to do more than just decent to get on the prospect map.
Similarly, David Popkins has an OPS of .798 since getting demoted from AA, but he is also 24 (25 in November), and as a corner OF he doesn't have much room for error.
Anthony Garcia has had an up and down season so far, alternating between months with OPSs over .850 with ones featuring sub-.700 OPSs. It seems like Garcia may still be a prospect after all, as he is starting to show some solid hitting ability.
Katz is hitting .297/.382/.594 in 20 games after being promoted to Palm Beach, following a .740 OPS for Peoria. A while back Baseball Prospectus' Jason Parks indicated that Katz had some very real power and would become a prospect if he could tap into it in-game. Last year's 4th round pick has four homers now for Palm Beach, and 18 total on the season. He's definitely someone to keep an eye on if he keeps hitting.
Peoria lost to Great Lakes 0 - 4
- Vaughn Bryan (CF), 0 for 3, BB, K, CS
- C.J. McElroy (DH), 0 for 3, BB, K, CS
- Juan Herrera (SS), 1 for 3, BB
- Ronald Castillo (RF), 0 for 3, 2 Ks, Fielding Error
- Rowan Wick (LF), 0 for 3, K
- Steve Bean (C), 0 for 3, 2 Ks
- Arturo Reyes, 6.0 IP, 7 Ks, BB, 7 Hits, 3 ER
Notes:
A solid outing from Arturo Reyes is wasted here, as Juan Herrera had the lone hit in the game for Peoria. Despite drawing four walks from opposing starter Jordan Hershiser (yes, son of Orel Hershiser) in just 3 IP, the Chiefs couldn't get anything going offensively.
State College lost to Mahoning Valley 2 - 3
- Darren Seferina (2B), 1 for 4, K
- Nick Thompson (RF), 1 for 3, BB, R, Outfield Assist
- Alex De Leon (1B), 1 for 4, K
- Trey Nielsen, 4.0 IP, 3 Ks, BB, H
DSL Cardinals lost to DSL Mets 6 - 7
GCL Cardinals beat GCL Mets 5 - 3
- Edmundo Sosa (SS), 0 for 4, R, K, CS
- Malik Collymore (DH), 2 for 3, 2B, BB, K, R, 2 RBI, CS
- Jack Flaherty, 3.0 IP, H, BB, 5 Ks
Notes:
These results mean nothing, but Flaherty has 12 Ks against 2 BBs so far.
Johnson City beat Bluefield 2 - 1
- Casey Turgeon (2B), 1 for 4, HR, R, 2 RBI
- Oscar Mercado (SS), 0 for 4, Throwing Error, Fielding Error
- Blake Drake (CF), 0 for 4, K
- Johnathan Escudero, 2.0 IP, 4 Ks, H
Notes:
Oscar Mercado has an OPS of .568 ... This is going to be a long development for him.
