Memphis had the day off.
Springfield was rained out.
Palm Beach beat Clearwater 12 - 2
- Charlie Tilson (CF), 1 for 3, 3B, 2 Runs
- Anthony Garcia (LF), 1 for 5, HR, K, R, RBI
- Silfredo Garcia, 5.0 IP, 3 Ks, 0 BBs, HR, 5 Hits, ER
- Kyle Barraclough, 1.0 IP, K, 3 Hits, ER
- Dixon Llorens, 1.0 IP, 3 Ks
- Chris Perry, 1.0 IP, K
Notes:
Chris Perry has been perfect in recording his first five outs after his promotion -- three of those have been by strikeout.
Of the Cardinals' 12 runs, 8 were off of Cliff Lee, though only three of those were "earned". I can't imagine that's the sort of start the Phillies (or potential trade targets) wanted to see. Does anyone know of any studies that indicate how predictive rehab starts are for recoveries (short or long term)?
Peoria beat Burlington 6 - 0
- C.J. McElroy (CF), 1 for 3, 2 BBs, K, 2 Runs
- Carson Kelly (C), 1 for 3, 2B, BB
- Ronald Castillo (RF), 1 for 5, 2B, 2 Ks
- Juan Herrera (DH), 0 for 5, 2 Ks
- Arturo Reyes, 6.0 IP, 4 Ks, 5 Hits
Notes:
McElroy's ISO is actually down, somehow, this year, and his K rate is still high at 15.9% (up from 15% last year). The good news is that his BB rate and BABIP are high enough that he's managing an above average OBP overall.
State College beat Staten Island 4 - 3
- Darren Seferina (2B), 1 for 4, R
- Rowan Wick (RF), 0 for 3, BB, 3 Ks
- Nick Thompson (LF), 0 for 4
- Brian O'Keefe (C), 0 for 4, K, PB
- Daniel Poncedeleon, 3 2/3 IP, 5 Ks, BB, 6 Hits, ER
State College beat Staten Island 7 - 1
- Darren Seferina (2B), 1 for 4, R
- Nick Thompson (RF), 2 for 3, R
- Fernando Baez, 5.0 IP, 2 Ks, 2 BBs, 2 Hits, ER
Notes:
The second game was shortened to seven innings to fit both games in one day.
DSL Cardinals lost to DSL Orioles2, 0 - 2
GCL Cardinals lost to the GCL Nationals 6 - 8
- Edmundo Sosa (SS), 3 for 7, 2 2Bs, 3B, R, 2 RBI
- Elier Rodriguez (1B), 0 for 7, K, R, RBI
- Mallik Collymore (2B), 1 for 3, 3B, K, RBI, Picked Off
- Jack Flaherty, 2.0 IP, 2 Ks, BB, 2 Hits
- Ronnie Williams, 3.0 IP, K, 2 BBs, 3 ER, 5 Hits
Notes:
This marks the second outing for Flaherty, the first round pick. Looks good so far at least.
Johnson City beats Burlington 9 - 4
- Oscar Mercado (SS), 2 for 5, 2 RBI, 3 Runs, 3 SBs
- Casey Turgeon (2B), 2 for 4, 3B, K, 2 Runs, RBI
- Blake Drake (DH), 1 for 4, 2B, BB, R, RBI
- Chris Rivera (3B), 0 for 5, K, 2 SBs
- Jose Godoy (C), 1 for 4, R
- Ismael Brito, 2.0 IP, 4 Ks, H
Notes:
I'm not sure what happened, but that's a lot of SBs for Rivera and Mercado.
Tonight's Starters:
Springfield: Jonathan Cornelius
Springfield: Kurt Heyer
