Memphis 7 - Tacoma 4 otables:

  • Mike O'Neill (LF): 0-3, 2 BB
  • Shane Robinson (CF): 1-5, 1 RBI, K
  • Matt Adams (1B): 1-4, R, K
  • Stephen Piscotty (RF): 1-3, 2 R, 2B, BB, K
  • Scott Moore (DH): 2-4, R, 2 2B, 2 RBI, K
  • Pete Kozma (2B): 0-2, R, BB
  • Zach Petrick (SP): 4.1 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 3 K, HR
  • Dean Kiekhefer (RP): 2 IP, 2 H, 2 K
  • Eric Fornatoaro (RP): 1 IP, 1 K
Notes:

  • Zach Petrick made it through the order the first time without many problems, but the trouble started his 2nd time through. He ended up giving up 4 runs and allowing 11 batters to reach base. After rocketing through the system last year and getting solid results at each stop, he picked up where he left off this year in Springfield. However, he's hit his 1st bump in the road in Memphis. Through 54 innings he's struck out 36 batters, walked 21 and allowed 8 homers.
  • The Memphis offense jumped all over Tacoma starter Matt Palmer, who actually had a rougher day than Petrick. The Redbird bullpen made the lead stand up, throwing 4.2 shutout innings to nail down the win.

Springfield 2 - Tulsa 1

Notables:

  • Matt Williams (SS): 0-3, BB, K, SB
  • Jacob Wilson (2B-3B): 1-3, R, RBI, BB, K
  • James Ramsey (CF): 0-3
  • Jonathan Rodriguez (1B): 1-3, R, HR, RBI, K
  • Patrick Wisdom (3B): 0-3, K
  • Sam Gaviglio (SP): 7 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 11 K
Notes:

  • First, the bad news for Springfield: Jon Gray took the mound for Tulsa last night. Gray was drafted 3rd overall by the Rockies last year and he looked every bit the part. He struck out 7 batters and walked 3 over 5 hitless shutout innings.
  • Now the good news for Springfield: Sam Gaviglio had his best start of the year. Gaviglio struck out 11, didn't issue a walk and only gave up 1 run over 7 innings. He also induced 8 groundouts against 0 flyouts.
  • Jonathan Rodriguez hit his 6th homer of the season which ties him with Patrick Wisdom for the 2nd most homers on the team.
  • Speaking of Patrick Wisdom, he has only 2 extra base hits and 2 walks over the last 10 games. His line is down to .226/.278/.380 for the season.
  • James Ramsey made his return to the lineup last night playing center and batting 3rd. He had been out since May 16th with a sore shoulder.

Palm Beach 9 - Bradenton 3

Notables:

  • Charlie Tilson (CF): 2-5, 2 R, HR, RBI, BB, K
  • Ildemaro Vargas (3B): 3-5, 2 R, 2B, HR, 3 RBI
  • Breyvic Valera (2B): 1-3, R, 2 BB
  • Luke Voit (1B): 1-4, R, 2B, 2 RBI, BB, K
  • Jesus Montero (C): 2-5, 1 R
  • David Washington (RF): 3-5, HR, RBI, K
  • Kyle Helisek (SP): 7 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 K, HR
  • Iden Nazario (RP): 2 IP, 3 H 1 ER, 4 K
Notes:

  • Charlie Tilson hit his 2nd home run of the season and his 1st since April 13th.
  • Tilson was outdone by the man hitting behind him. Ildemaro Vargas homered as well, and threw in a double for good measure.
  • David Washington's home run was his 11th of the year.
