As Rob Rains of StL Sports Page first reported, top prospect Oscar Taveras is on his way to St. Louis:
Oscar Taveras time about to begin in StL. Word from a source in Memphis is that he is on his way to the majors. #STLCards STLCards
— Rob Rains (@RobRains) May 31, 2014
The news caused quite the stir around social media outlets, but the reaction was somewhat subdued due to silence from both the team and its two beat writers. What seemed like hours later (largely due to the terrible game being played on the field), Derrick Goold of the Post Dispatch broke the silence with the following tweet:
#Cardinals keeping quiet on @robRains report Taveras is coming. But he's coming. Taveras will be reporting to St. Louis, sources confirm.

Soon thereafter, Rains provided an updated article regarding the news. With Taveras expected to be activated tomorrow, the corresponding roster move is believed to be the placing of Matt Adams on the disabled list due to his injured calf.
Fourstick will provide an in-depth analysis of the call-up for tomorrow's VEB Daily post. In it, he will discuss what playing time will look like for Taveras as well as provide links to all of VEB's Taveras work so far this season.
In the meantime, let's just sit back, relax, and discuss the promotion.
