The St. Louis Cardinals selected Chris Rivera in the seventh round of the 2013 MLB Draft. Though he played shortstop in high school, he has since moved over to second base. As a refresher, here is Viva El Birdos' compiled scouting report of Rivera published immediately after the draft. In it, you will see that Big League Futures classified Rivera as one of the top three defensive shortstops in his draft class (along with Oscar Mercado and JP Crawford). Thus, it appears his move to second was not due to an ineffective glove at shortstop. This is good to hear, and it makes for a very "rangy" second baseman. I don't know about you, but the thought of having a "rangy" second baseman just makes me very happy.

His batting average and on-base percentage show significant room for improvement, but his .158 ISO (six doubles, five home runs in 2013) will be a nice fit for a second baseman at the big league level. He was still only 18 years old last year and given the scouting reports I have read, I really like his bat moving forward. He is currently in Florida for extended spring training, but I know he has set high goals for where he wants to finish the 2014 season. Feel free to ask him about these goals in the comments.
Without further ado, please include your questions for Chris in the comments section. He does not need to answer every single question, and unfortunately he cannot stick around all afternoon, so post them early and often!
Thank you very much for doing this for us, Chris!
