Per KMOX Sports Director Tom Ackerman's tweets, Manager Mike Matheny has named Joe Kelly to the starting rotation over Carlos Martinez, who will start the season as a reliever.

Sunday morning, the St. Louis Cardinals announced another round of spring-training camp reassignments:
- Outfielder Joey Butler, who is a member of the 40-man roster, was optioned to Triple-A. Butler never seemed to be a real candidate for a bench spot and will join a rather crowded outfield in Memphis. Fourstick profiled Butler as part of VEB's recurring Other 15 series.
- Lefthanded reliever Sam Freeman, who is also on the 40-man, was sent to Memphis as well. With two lefthanded relievers already penciled into the St. Louis rotation, this move was predictable. Because the southpaw is on the 40-man and unlikely to see time in St. Louis save injury, Fourstick profiled him as one of the Cards' Other 15.
- Shortstop Aledmys Diaz was reassigned to Springfield. The Cardinals got Diaz some time in big-league games to give him a look and have now sent him to where he'll start the year: Double-A. After the Cards signed Diaz, Fourstick examined why Double-A makes the most sense for the shortstop.
- Angel Castro was outrighted to make room on the 40-man roster for righthanded reliever Pat Neshek. Neshek has won a spot in the opening-day St. Louis bullpen. Fourstick profiled Castro here.
- Infielders Greg Garcia was optioned to Triple-A. As part of the Other 15 series, Fourstick also profiled Garcia.
- Non-roster invitee Luis Mateo, an infielder, was reassigned to Memphis.
