Kolten Wong was categorically awful last year. That's bad!
Kolten Wong will probably not be categorically awful this year. That's good!
I do not know the level at which Kolten Wong will not be categorically awful next year. That's... neither
Kolten Wong's mediocre year in Springfield (.287/.348/.405) was pretty disappointing in a stadium/league that saw Daniel Descalso hit .323/.396/.531. That's bad!
Kolten Wong very good year in Memphis (.303/.369/.466) was pretty awesome in a stadium/league that saw Daniel Descalso hit .281/.349/420. That's good!
Kolten Wong contains potassium benzoate.
The Cardinals traded David Freese to the Los Angeles Angels this offseason seemingly hoping that 2014 Wong (And Ellis, depending on how they're platooned) + 2014 Carpenter is better than 2013 Carpenter + 2013 Freese. Carpenter and Freese combined for 7.3 WAR last year, so even if you project Carpenter for a pretty decent heapin' of regression (which you absolutely should), the combination could still easily see a net positive. And this is all ignoring the fact that we got Peter Bourjos and Randal Grichuk in trade as well!
