Viva El Birdos Community Projections for the 2014 St. Louis Cardinals

It's time for the VEB community to put its extensive Cardinals knowledge up against ZiPS, Oliver, Steamer, PECOTA, and Bill James.

Every baseball offseason is made a bit brighter by the staggered release of the next season's baseball projections. ZiPS, Oliver, Steamer, PECOTA, and Bill James all add fuel to the Hot Stove fire, helping baseball fans get through the winter. I think it's time that VEB put its collective smarts up against these projection systems. I think it's time for the VEB community to compile its own forecast for the forthcoming St. Louis Cardinals season.

We will begin collecting everyone's 2014 Cardinals projections tomorrow morning. The first player will be Yadier Molina.

Rui has volunteered to run the VEB community projections for the 2014 Cardinals. The process will be a simple one. Rui will post on an individual player. Rui has put together a Google form that each of you can fill out and submit. Rui will then compile the VEB community's various projections for Molina's 2014 stats and then average them out for the VEB community 2014 projection. Then, at the end of the season, we'll look back and see how the VEB community projections stack up against the various MLB forecasts as well as which individual community members were the most accurate in projecting each of the Cardinals' 2014 stats.

I think this is going to be a lot of fun and can't wait to get started. Please help get the word out. I'd like as many VEB community members to participate as possible.
