VEB Community: Daily Post Schedule & Commenting

This is Ben Humphrey, the writer formerly known as "bgh." Things are changing at VEB. Here's a guide on how to navigate the daily posts while still maintaining the daily discussion that community members enjoy.

There are some changes afoot at Viva El Birdos. The biggest among them is the number of posts per day. Instead of the typical one post per day, we will now have multiple posts. This change in publishing schedule means the VEB community will need comment a bit differently than we have in the past in order to navigate the various posts and still maintain our typical daily discussions. This is a work in progress, and I encourage you to share any ideas you have as we move forward.

First, the daily schedule:

1) Early Morning Post - 6:30 a.m. CDT

During the season, this post will actually become two: (1) Daily Farm Report, and (2) VEB Game Recap. During the offseason, however, this post will deal with breaking news or set the table for the rest of the day's posts. Yesterday, the Cardinals announced that the organization had reached an agreement with Mike Shannon on a multi-year contract extension. So a post on Shannon's return was published in the early-morning slot. However, Monday's early-morning post set the table for the pitching "wins" discussion that was the focus of that day's posts.

2) "VEB Daily" Main Post - 10:00 a.m. CDT

The mid-morning post is the one that will house that day's larger discussion. This is where you can talk about the Main Post's subject matter as well as other things, such as MLB news, boat shoes, and carpentry. VEB community members can tell whether a post is the "VEB Daily" post by looking at the tag at top of the page, just under the banner, of the post:

If it has the "VEB Daily" tag at the top, as shown here, then it is the post that is the home base for commenting that day. For the posts that follow, subject-specific comments can be posted:

3) Early Afternoon Post - 1:00 p.m. CDT

4) Mid-Afternoon Post - 3:00 p.m. CDT

At present, this is the rough idea for how posts will be scheduled moving forward and how the VEB community can maintain the fun banter that make the site so enjoyable for so many while also engaging in baseball-specific discussions relating to the multiple posts that we'll be publishing daily.
