Daily Farm Report - 8/6/13

A daily recap of the minor league players in the Cardinals' farm system.

Memphis 5, Las Vegas 3

  • Mike O'Neill was 3-for-4 with a walk.
  • Kolten Wong was 3-for-4 with a walk.
  • Nick Additon was sharp for 6 innings allowing just 2 hits and 1 walk. He struck out 5 and needed just 76 pitches for the outing.
  • Sam Freeman pitched 2 innings of relief allowing a 3-run home run in the process.
  • Fernando Salas picked up the save with a perfect 9th.

Springfield 4, Frisco 3

  • Xavier Scruggs was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks.
  • Cody Stanley was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.
  • Seth Blair was solid across 6 innings allowing just 1 walk and 6 hits for 2 runs. He struck out an 7. Blair's one of those players who get's overshadowed by the bigger arms in the system but now that he seems to have his control worked out, he's a good prospect. Too early to guarantee anything but this he's taken a big step forward this season.
  • Springfield needed 4 relievers to get the final 9 outs and called in their closer, Lee Stoppelman, for 1 out to end the 9th.

Peoria 1, Burlington 4

  • CJ McElroy was 2-for-4.
  • Trevor Martin was 3-for-4.
  • Peoria collected 8 hits but they were all singles in the game. They had 2 walks on the night.
  • Ben O'Shea was knocked around in his start for 3 runs on 7 hits over 5.2 innings. He walked 3 and struck out 3.
  • Sam Tuivailala walked 2 and struck out 3 in 2 scoreless innings.

State College 7, Staten Island 3

  • Steve Ramos, CF, hit is first home run of the season for State College in a 2-for-4 outing where he also walked.
  • David Washington, 1B, was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and his 7th home run.
  • Carson Kelly, 3B, was 1-for-4 with his 2nd home run of the season in State College.
  • Luke Voit, C, was 1-for-3 with a walk and his 2nd home run.
  • Jimmy Reed had the start and pitched 4 innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned). He walked 3 and allowed 3 hits against 4 strikeouts.
  • Mitch Harris contributed 2 innings where he allowed a hit and a walk while striking out 4.

Johnson City 4, Elizabethton 2 (7 innings)

  • Vaughn Bryan, CF, was 0-for-2 but walked twice.
  • Kenneth Peoples-Walls, DH, and Richy Pedroza, 2B, both singled and walked as the only other players to reach base twice.
  • Luis Perdomo allowed 4 hits in 4.2 innings while striking out 3. He walked 2 and was responsible for both of Elizabethton's runs.
  • Zach Loraine completed the remaining 2.1 innings with a flawless effort striking out 3.

Johnson City 4, Elizabethton 1

  • Justin Ringo, 1B, was 1-for-4 with his 4th home run of the season.
  • Rowan Wick, C, was 2-for-3 with his 4th home run of the season.
  • Michael Holback struck out 6 across his 3 inning start. He walked 1 and allowed 1 hit.
  • Steve Sabatino allowed the only run in 2.1 innings on 2 hits while striking out 3.
  • Fernando Baez struck out 1 while completing the final 1.2 innings.
