Early word out of the 2013 MLB All-Star Game, hosted by the New York Mets, is that St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher (and All-Star) Adam Wainwright was booed by fans at Citi Field.
Wainwright, 12-5 with an ERA of 2.45 across a league-leading 146 innings in 2013, is actually a very good pitcher, and a member of the National League squad, so I'm not sure what could be behind the reaction he got. If you have anything that might solve this mystery—maybe an animated GIF, even that really small, staticky one from back when everybody had DSL—let us know about it in this gamethread.
Carlos Beltran could not be reached for comment at this time.
Adam Wainwright didn't want to expect boos because that would "be a compliment." Well, he got the boos. #stlcards #cardinals #asg
