an item from the top run of the standings: the brewers have sent chris capuano to the bullpen. he's 0-10 with a 6.70 era in his last 16 starts; the brewers are 0-16 in those starts. he should give anthony reyes a call. what the hell, let's compare:
GS | IP | H | BB | SO | HR | W-L | ERA | AVGS
capuano (5/13-8/19) | 16 | 86 | 110 | 35 | 82 | 13 | 0-10 | 6.70 | .313/.382/.500
reyes (4/7-6/27) | 12 | 65 | 68 | 24 | 46 | 8 | 0-10 | 6.40 | .270/.340/.452 |
our 0-10 guy is way better than their 0-10 guy.
wainwright goes for win #12 tonight; the last first-year starter to get 12 wins for the cardinals was this guy with the big curveball. if wainwright goes on to win 13 this year, he'll equal the number recorded by this hard thrower. anybody know the last time a first-year starter won more than 13 games for st louis?
hell, braden looper might manage to get to 13 wins; he's a first-year starter too, i guess . . . . .
