How fitting is it that just this past Friday as part of a promotion for the Memphis Redbirds that Rick Ankiel is gracing the cover of a Marvel comic book along with The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man, and Iron Man? I'm not sure Stan Lee could dream this sort of stuff up. Comic books usually make good movies. OK, scratch that. Some comic books make good movies, and most make good money. I don't know about you, but this is a story I would lay down $10.00 to go see at the theater. And I would spend $25.00 more to have it permanently on DVD. But who would play Rick? I'd offer a suggestion, but I realize mine all suck. Who do you all see as a possible fit to play be on-screen Ankiel?

On a less happy note, Will Leitch rightly pointed out that lost in all this is what event transpired to get Ankiel up in the first place. I don't really buy that it's a team issue, but it sure as heck looks like one. Not trying to be a downer, but I do hope that we remember the joys of Ankiel and him finding some personal redemption on the ball field, that we can hope for the best and be accepting of Spiezio, who also is seeking some far more important personal redemption by getting himself free from whatever substances that he's found himself addicted to. His comeback story is just as important, actually more so.
