GAME TIME 6:05 CDT

they may not get this game in; we got a heavy hailstorm at 1:30 pm, and it rained for three hours after that. the rain has stopped for now, but soggy clouds are still draped overhead and the ground is saturated.

a little followup from this morning's Q+A with jeff luhnow: tommy pham and wilmer alvarado, a couple of the players who luhnow said are doing well at extended spring training, were promoted today to class A Quad Cities. pretty good challenge for these players, who are both still teenagers. until now, the 8-man rotation had served as quad cities' chief point of interest; suddenly the everyday lineup has become interesting, too.

here's an interesting item: tom verducci used bill james' projections to forecast the all-time leaderboard for base hits circa 2025. albert pujols stands 4th on that make-believe list, just ahead of The Man:

  1. Rose 4256
  2. Cobb, 4189
  3. Aaron, 3771
  4. Pujols, 3752
  5. Musial, 3630
El Hombre has 1213 career hits entering this evening's play.
