Olney Reports Cards Talking to Twins About Rolen

Olney just reported on XM that the Cards and Twins are talking about a deal that would include Rolen.  He thinks it would make sense for the Twins and Rolen and that the Twins wouldn't have to give up much.

This doesn't sound too good to me.  Maybe if we can pick up a couple of pitchers, but then who plays 3b?  Barden

JROD AROD Connection

I know I keep imploring people to read Goold's stuff, but once again, I think Bird Land has a really interesting article.

It turns out that AROD is attributing his early season success to a hitting instructor who was instrumental in producing JROD's minor league explosion in 2004.

Maybe JROD should call him again.  Sounds like he has been struggling lately.  I would like to see him get back on track and in a position to help the big club.

Great Work by Goold

I really have been enjoying Derrick Goold's work last year and this year.  If you haven't been following his daily updates at Bird Land, you should really check it out.  Lots of great info that isn't always making the front page articles.

Also his article today on Wainwright I thought was really good.  I hope the PD recognizes that he is such a great talent.

Schmidt May Still be Available

There's still hope Azruvatar

Per Bernie:

"Talked to one of the Cardinals' higher-ups just now...

DeWitt and Jocketty have been told that there's no deal yet -- and that they (Schmidt and his agents) would like to still have discussions.... so as far as the Cardinals are concerned, there's still reason to have discussion with Schmidt's agents... and I am told the Cardinals are making a "strong" offer. "

This was at 414 central time.

Delluci to Indians

Fox Sports reports that Delluci has signed a three year 11.5 million deal with the Indians.  Seems like a pretty good deal for the Indians and the first sane contract in this insane offseason.  I would have liked to see the Cards make a run at him, but you can't pay that much unless you are going to dump Enc or trade Dunc.
