Pre-1990 Cardinal games on tape

Hey Hardcore, noticed your new tag line. My dad used to record Cardinal playoff games in the 80's on VHS, and he still has alot of them as far as I know. I know he had Games 3, 6, and 7 from the 1982 World Series, and at one time he had Game 3 from the 82 NLCS in Atlanta. He had Games 1,2,4,and 7 from 1985 World series, and he had games from the 87 NLCS against San Francisco and from the 87 World Series also. He would usually tape every game, but he also usually taped over the games the Cards lost. :-)  Not sure if you were wanting originals or to maybe make copies of them...I doubt he'd mind too much, since I've never seen him watch any of them. Let me know...

On a sad note, my father's dumbass son accidentally taped over Willie's awesome Game 3 over the rail catch of Gorman Thomas' deep drive to center field...  Idiot...  :-)

I'm afraid so... :-)
Although I do have a brother, he wasn't the culprit...

I'd love copies of them
I didn't want to post my email address in a link on in my signature, for fear of some random search engine bot picking it up and spamming me to death.

I can link this thread though, now and hopefully find some games.

As to your story, that's quite a collection.  I'd take copies of any of those games sans the 87 World Series (it's on MLB DVD already).  I'm just looking for random older games that people may have.  MLB has not been doing a very good job of updating their catalogue or making games availible lately (though they have recently aquired copies from a Boston fan of 2 games from the 1967 World Series).

If lboros doesn't mind Cardinals fans tape trading (no profits made, of course) then I'd love to work something out with you.

Sure...you can drop me an email
My ID is also my Yahoo ID and email.  I'm going home to visit next week, and I'll ask the old man about it...

What was it
that your father's dumbass son recorded? Hopefully it was something cool, like Voltron.

Probably nothing that cool :-)
I had a set of Voltron toys that you could assemble into the big robot....they were awesome.

I did record alot of Transformers cartoons back then...guess that could have been it... :-)

I can't wait to see
that new movie. What always pissed me off was I would always lose the guns to my GI JOEs. OKay this thread has taken a turn...not sure if I have any old cardinals games. There, back on track.

I hear ya
I slipped quickly back into my youthful geekdom the first time I saw the Transformers movie trailer...  :-)

Losing the guns was bad enough...but what about the missiles off of the planes?  ;-)

tapes
I wouldn't mind just about any Cardinals games of the past on tape.  I don't really think I have anything of interest to offer in return, however.

remember when ESPN Classic would occasionally show old baseball games?  that was nice.  I swear it's almost always "classic" poker shows and racing these days though.  I guess that's what happens when ESPN reduces their (financial) interest in baseball.

on another note... it would be nice to see, unless this already exists of course, some kind of centralized repository for online Cardinals video footage (or interesting images for that matter.)  I occasionally see links posted on here, but not all that often.  I know there's things on youtube, but I'm not really into people's homemade "tribute videos" so much.

Acquire some runs!
