just curious about your walk total
Why so high?  I'm not pooping on your thread, by the way, just wondering if you see something about Carp that leads you to believe he'll walk 80 something batters.

I kinda wonder
if maybe they need to skip him a time or 2 in the rotation.  Not that I'm paranoid, but with playoffs he's piling up the innings.

No prediction lboros?
Looking over the thread, I think that the VeB community, myself included, is a little too bullish on Carpenter.  If he posts some of the projected lines ... well maybe he is the second coming of Gibby.

by azruavatar on Mar 7, 2007 5:31 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Was kind of thinking the same thing...
... not that a lot of these projections are unreasonable, but there aren't that many unreasonably bad ones to offset the unreasonably good ones.

by Jonathan23 on Mar 7, 2007 11:27 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

well,
he has been unreasonably good the last three years.
Cheers

by Alxfritz on Mar 8, 2007 4:56 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

but
unless I missed something, every one of us has picked him to have more wins than his 15 in 06. I'm one of only two to have him with as few as 16 wins.  That's a bullish group.

by DCGreg on Mar 8, 2007 12:56 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I'm surprised by the number of ERAs
under 3.  I don't think anyone has crossed 3.50 -- there's no one predicting a serious regression of any kind.  Given how unstable pitchers can be, this surprises me.  We may be setting ourselves up for disappointment.

For the record...
As per my usual M.O., the above "official" prediction is the mean.  I also have Pessimistic and Optimistic projections:

IP    H  BB   SO  HR   W   L   ERA
PESS    178  161  36  148  20  15  10  3.26
OPT     230  198  47  197  20  20   5  2.95
