community projection VIII: juan encarnacion

you'll recall that last year we absolutely nailed this guy's projection. i expect no less this time around.

as always, please

  1. comma-delimit your projections
  2. don't look at other projections until after you've posted your own
  3. be kind to children
here's j'cion's career line. projection categories are the usual, plus stolen bases:

The Full Platoon
131,.264,.355,.443,16,61,57,8

He just joins the outfield platoon this year. All positions in the outfield will be very fluid and I doubt we ever see the same outfield lineup more than 2 days in a row.

wrist saps a little bat speed from an already marginal player.

I wish we were projecting JRod at the same time as Juan...I can only hope that the ABs I projected are about twice what he gets.  That OBP is absolutely awful.  Just can't defend him based on good defense anymore.

I'm not optimistic
I see a guy who will be injured more frequently in his age 30 season, who'll be platooned more w/ Rodriguez and others (probably a good thing), and may end up w/ someone else or as the 4th OF by the end of the year.

A model of consistent mediocrity
I'll project him doing exactly what he did this year. The only real question is whether he'll do it for this team or some other one.
