Errors vs. Hits
Hey!
The bad news is we have to play the Cubs again. Somehow losing is just worse when they beat us!
im ready
and even brad thompson
anyone know how the kid is fairing
i cant believe marquis is making more than ill make in 10 years for this crap
i want to see someone smash a water cooler
i paid 90 bucks apiece tonight for tickets for my cousin and his girl for their birthday
and this is what i get for 200.00
it has got to improve
Same here
I stayed to the end, though. I'm getting tired of this bullcrap. In hte last four games I've been to, the Cards have been outscored 7-0 (by Eric f***ing Milton!), 7-3, 16-8, and 8-1.
Carp's going tomorrow. It'll be better, won't it? It has to be, doesn't it?

And so
Go 16 games over .500, lose eight straight games.
Go 16 games over .500, lose seven straight games.
And whodathunkit...it all started with a win over Colorado and then a trip to Chicago.

You know what's amazing
Bingo!
Bouncing Back
But we're still in 1st Place and Busch III is still sold out. The majic number may now be down to 29 more drubbings before making the play-offs.
Caught the last at bat for the reds on mlb.tv. 2nd & 3rd in the 9th, but couldn't score, too bad.
Over to the Angels and got to watch the younger weaver. Interesting to see the difference from Jeff, until he almost came un-glued by a botched corner field play nearly become an inside the parker. Runs score and he looks wiped. But then the Halos get one right back. This is baseball, like we haven't seen around here in over a week.
Tomorrow might be better.

NL
Here is a fun little fact for us now
RS:524
RA:523
Well
Think they're up to it?
Also, they are probably going to score less than 800 runs this season. You'd have to turn the Wayback Machine to 1997 to find the last time a Cardinal team did that.
Of course, scoring 800 doesn't mean that you can't win anything. The White Sox scored 750 runs last year. It'd be nice if the Cardinals had pitching though.

wow
I'm not getting the BA>OBP thing though... how?
$10 and my left nut...
3 aspects this team does not have right now. And I'll even take it further...
Pujols has done NOTHIMG to help this team besides 1 game POST break in Colorado. That's not what you get from a MVP player.
I want him gone
Listen, I know you're angry, but be realistic--WHO has helped this team during the break? They are ALL to blame. Do you think Pujols has the ability to go 4-for-4 with home runs every time he comes up? Add to that, there's no way he is 100% right now, but he's out there because he feels that he gives the team a chance to win. Why are you singling HIM out? Why not Edmonds? Rolen? Juan'cion? Looper? Carpenter? Marquis? Weaver? Reyes?
EVERY player, all 25 of 'em, have failed. Have you become so spoiled by Pujols that if he doesn't perform at a God-like rate, he is to be tossed aside like garbage? I'm SO tired of reading you complain about him everyday. WE GET THE POINT. You might be getting tired of him, but there are still fans that appreciate what he is doing, and know that his slump is killing him worse than us.
And get your facts right, chief...he has hit two game-winning homers in the second half. Remember the walk-off? Oh, and he gave the team a fighting chance to win on Saturday with a leadoff single against Dumpster, he tied the game against LA with a home run that the Cardinals would go on to win, and he was 4-for-5 with three RBI's in the 11-3 win on July 16.

"Fans don't care and I really don't expect them to, but since you asked, Pujols is being a jerk.... hostile to everyone. It doesn't matter to me in terms of what I write; I don't care if anyone is pleasant or not. But it's too bad he's back to being surly.

"Yeah, I can be surly....
But there is a difference.
I don't walk around proclaiming I'm a man of God, a man of Christ -- and then treat people like dirt. If you're a man of God, a man of Christ -- well, once you publicly stake out that turf, you'd better walk the walk.

tactless comments
and no, pujols isn't a flop, and being the NL's most valuable player last year and the first hal of this year doesn't require him to be the savior for a team full of holes for as long as he plays.
it sucks that he's surly and it sucks that he hasn't hit a home run in a few games, but geez. how can someone with the name "Pujols 4 MVP" be the guy's biggest detractor?
Don't Know
I think it helps give an idea to show that Pujols is frustrated too about the team. I think it shows the team is probably rather tense and just needs a win.
I am getting worried about this team because losing is a disease that can only be cured by winning. Losing will affect all parts of your game. You over anaylze things and try to hard.

Whether they are true or not...
by Hardcore Legend on Aug 4, 2006 2:49 AM EDT up reply actions
No, it's not
yes, it is
It is irresponsible. It's one thing to make observations about players being frustrated. It's quite another to make personal judgements in an extremely open forum.
It is irresponsible because the exchange went....
"Vague discription about a players mood"
"Diatribe of personal opinion about the players character"
As a reporter, which is what Bernie is and is the reason he was privy to such information, if you are going to offer OP-ED, you seemingly can't do it based on something the readership have NO insight into. You are their portal into the situation and you've tainted their views by plastering yours all over it.
It is either irresponsible or poor journalism. Maybe he should just stick to taking stuff from lboros and printing it.

sorry for the language
again, sorry for the language. I know better.
but I too am mad as hell and I dont want to watch this loosing anymore. this team is better than this. its just really depressing watching this team loose to teams with far far inferior talent. i consider myself a die hard cadinal fan. but even i couldnt watch the last inning. thing about living in ohio is, no one cares about baseball. not even reds fans. everyone out here is football fans. the local tv news only cover osu football, hockey, and nfl football in cincy and cleveland. so i cant talk about our beloved cardinals to anyone, because no body cares. i am really gald i found this site. i hate living here. but i am glad i dont have to witness this team loose in person paing out the rear for season tickets for a team that is .500 at best. its bad enough i plopped down $150 for ExtraInnings. we need help. big time.
just because
i like bernie at times, but he says a lot of stupid things
The one thing
That sight has been nagging at me ever since. It was just such a catty thing to do that I couldn't believe I saw ALBERT of all people do it, and it makes me wonder about some of the missed plays/lack of hustle that Enc has had since then- a thing like that can take a guy from "team player" to "playing for a paycheck" and albert might not even know he did it.
I'm not dissing on albert- again, I doubt if he even realized enc was wanting approval from him, and even if he did they are grown men and should be mature about it, but albert may not realize how much his role in the clubhouse has changed since the geezers left at the end of last year.
And I post this because....
The leaders need to lead, and rigth now they simply aren't.
That can change with one swing of the bat.

Geesh.....
My comments were VERY tongue in check. You obviously missed that tone. Understandable bro.
However, everyone on this team is accountable for this poor play of late. INCLUDING him, so let's not forget that. Just because someone is that good doesn't excuse poor play. As you said, and as I agree, it's a group effort. Nobody should be excluded, from Miles to Pujols.
We are all frustrated. So I apologize Ryan (if that is in fact your name) for my post/tone. I think you read it wrong. It's hard almost impossible to grasp a tone in a post.
Pujols is in a slump. Woop de do. It's just crappy timing with this team losing as bad as they are. That's why things are being blown up more than they need to be. If Albert hits .180 and this team wins 7 of 8 who cares.
Regardless, I am sorry if my post offended or upset ya man. Just know it's frustration. Come see my office at my home...and then talk tome about Pujols and what I think about the man. My point I guess was (long story longer) everyone is to blame for this, even his play of late as crappy as that might be. Without him however, we are looking at a sub .500 team.

Memphis Redbirds tonite vs.Sacramento River Cats
2 errors committed by the Redbirds, Narveson only lasted about 3 innings, and they only got 5 hits.
Sigh...
But hey, Jr. Spivey hit a home run... and I got Timo Perez and Brad Thompsons' autograph... :-)

Beer vs. Budget
I keep hearing Walt has to stick within a certain budget. Whats a large draft cost at Busch these days? $7,$7.50? With all the fricking beer they sell at that place why don't the raise the beer another 50 cents & they could afford anybody!
