Marlins say no thanks on trading Willis to Cardinals
This is according to Will Carroll. It's just a short blurb found here, so I figured posting it wouldn't hurt. And today's gamethread was full, so I'm posting it here.
"The Cardinals made a final bid for Dontrelle Willis, likely similar to the previous deal that centered on Anthony Reyes. Once again, the Marlins declined, not bowled over by the offer. The Marlins are unlikely to move anyone, including Joe Borowski. The Cards' interest in Shawn Green may not be over once the deadline passes. Most sources I asked think Green will clear waivers. "
Sigh. I guess Walt tried. I think we should trade Reyes for something big if we can, but I think his value has gone down some. I blame DD and TLR, frankly, though I suppose Reyes could've pitched better. I just wish that if they aren't going to let him be himself, they need to move him for someone they will and let Reyes do his thing elsewhere.
Shawn Green? Is he really going to be much better then what we have now? Color me unimpressed.

I'd prefer that we went after a 2nd baseman
I don't know why we're looking at Shawn Green when we're sorely lacking on offense at second base, catcher and even at shortstop right now.
Seeing Green
He'd be fine...but he's not much better than Duncan...a little less on the power front.
I could go either way. Cheap, sure. Cost anything, nah.
