Nancy Wainwright said her son "got used to living in the fishbowl as the hometown hero." It would take a tad longer for Adam and Jenny to take their seats at any of the local restaurants just because he would stop for congratulations and well wishes from the locals. That's changed. Back home as a big-leaguer, there's a respectful distance kept, and that's how it was a week or so ago at Crabdaddy's.

The Wainwrights and Miss Nancy, as folks call her, welcomed Adam's agent, Steven Hammond, for dinner on the day Adam found out he won this year's Gold Glove. In between the cheese grits and fried shrimp, it didn't come up.

There's the fried shrimp at The Crab Trap, the shrimp and grits at Crabdaddys and the pumpkin bread and crab cakes at Barbara Jean's. Adam and Jenny, who was then his high school sweetheart, would arrive late for class after ducking by Dressner's for an omelet so thin it could be a doily.

I figured Smoltz was a given and that Derosa was the backup plan in LF with Freese getting a shot at 3rd if we couldn't sign Holliday or Bay... or any warm body in LF

I dont know if anyone has really noticed, or talked about this guy, but I live in the Qaud Cities and have seen him play on multiple occasions. The guy really impressed me. He has a strong acurate arm, he handled the pitching staff well, he walks more than he strikes out, and hes got decent pop. I can see him being a very valuble major league player. He has not gotten a lot of prospect status love around here so I thought I would bring him to our attention and get some opinons. I live in the QC and have gotten to see many players come through here (not to mention I got to see Shelby MIiller's first pro game in the Cardinals Oginization!!) and he was definetly one of the best (Rasmus and Garcia were the only ones who impressed me more).

Ohh and one last thing...He played for Lowell Highschool in California...their mascot? THE CARDINALS...If thats not a sign I don't know what is.
