Daily Farm Report - 7/7/13

A daily recap of the minor league players in the Cardinals' farm system.

Memphis 13, Nashville 3

  • Kolten Wong was 2-for-4 with a walk and his 7th home run of the year. Wong has really improved his power numbers as the season progressed and now has a .165 ISO on the year.
  • Jamie Romak was 2-for-4 with a walk and his 19th home run of the year.
  • Adron Chambers was 1-for-3 with a walk and his 5th home run of the year.
  • Rob Johnson was 3-for-4 with a double.
  • Tyler Lyons was impressive again striking out 9 in 8 innings. He allowed 2 hits and walked 1 for 3 runs. All three runs came on a home run by Nashville's first baseman, Hunter Morris.

Springfield 7, San Antonio 9

  • James Ramsey was 2-for-3 with a pair of walks. He tripled and homered.
  • Ruben Gotay was 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs -- his 9th and 10th on the season. He also walked.
  • Stephen Piscotty was 3-for-5. Piscotty's .310/.341/.500 line in Springfield continues to remind me a lot of Allen Craig as a hitter.
  • Richard Castillo was shellacked for 7 runs (6 earned) in 5 innings. He struck out 3 and walked 1 while surrendering 9 hits.
  • Heath Wyatt was the only pitcher of four to escape the day unscathed. He struck out 3 and allowed 1 hit in two innings of work.

Palm Beach 3, Jupiter 1

  • Colin Walsh was 2-for-4.
  • Starlin Rodriguez was 3-for-4 with a double. It's never a good thing in development to get demoted but Rodriguez has responded well with a OPS that's a .163 points higher than his Springfield OPS.
  • Jonathan Rodriguez was 1-for-3 with his 6th home run of the year.
  • Kurt Heyer struck out 8 in a scoreless 6 innings. He allowed just 3 hits and kept the ball on the ground with 6 of 9 outs as groundballs.
  • Robert Stock allowed 1 run over 1.2 innings. He walked 1 and struck out 3.

Peoria 9, Beloit 4

  • Nick Martini was 1-for-3 with a walk and a double.
  • Jeremy Schaffer was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk. He homered twice.
  • Jordan Walton was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk.
  • Patrick Wisdom was 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles. Wisdom's batting average is an awful .229 but he's putting up some monster power numbers with a .205 ISO.
  • Charlie Tilson was 3-for-5.
  • Brad Watson tossed 6.2 innings allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 9 hits. He struck out 6.

State College 12, Mahoning Valley 3

Johnson City 7, Bluefield 0
