Daily Farm Report - 7/12/13

"Trust Fall"

A daily recap of the minor league players in the Cardinals' farm system.

The farm system went 3-4 W-L overall excluding Rookie-ball not named Johnson City. Thomas Pham homered for the first time at Memphis. Tim Cooney had an excellent that featured him punching out nine batters. David Popkins had another big-offensive night.

Memphis 6, Nashville 3

Memphis went to extras won in the 11th inning with three runs scored.

Kolten Wong hit a single and walked. Wonder if Wong is thinking about any acrobatic flips he can do with the Futures Game coming up Sunday.

Greg Garcia in a pinch-hit appearance hit a 3-run RBI single. Perhaps that will spark his bat which has been down all season.

Thomas Pham went 2-5 with a solo homer and RBI single.

Tyler Lyons after three stellar starts a not so stellar one this time out he went 5 2/3 innings gave up 3 hits on 2 earned runs walked 2 and struck out 5. He did find a way to win though.

Michael Blazek gave up a hit in a 1 1/3 scoreless inning also walked one and struck out one.

Fernando Salas closed out his 3rd save of the season with a scoreless inning.

Springfield 4, Northwest Arkansas 0

Springfield did manage to score 4 runs but they left 12 runs on base and were 1-for-9 with RISP.

Mike O'Neill was 2-4 with a run and walk.

Xavier Scruggs doubled and reached via base on balls three times.

Cody Stanley with the big-hit of the night it was a 2-run RBI single.

Palm Beach 8, Brevard County 10

David Popkins was 3-5 with a double, triple, and 3 RBI. Popkins is now batting .345 on the season if he had enough at bats to qualify he would be leading the Florida State League in batting average ahead of uber-prospect Miguel Sano.

Starlin Rodriguez was 1-3 with two runs batted in and even two walks nice to see him taking more pitches and taking walks.

Anthony Garcia and Adam Lewis were both identically 1-4 with a RBI singles and walks.

Jay Voss was hammered he surrendered 10 hits on 8 earned runs in 3 2/3 innings.

Robert Stock pitching on two straight days went 1 2/3 inning gave up a hit a run (not earned) walked two and struck out three.

State College's game was suspended in the third it's said it will not be made up.

Vaughn Bryan was 2-3 with a double and stolen base his 10th on the season.

Luis Perdomo gave up 6 hits on 5 runs (2 earned) while he walked 3 and struck out 5 in 4 2/3 innings.
